Hey All,
I was just wondering if you guys had any recommendations for a set of good paint brushes. I am just getting back in the hobby and most of my old brushes are beat to hell and in pretty rough shape. Any links would really be appreciated.
I use Windsor & Newton, Cotman brushes from my local artists supply store. I have yet to find a brush in a hobby shop that I like. It took me a lot of trial and error to find the brushes that gave me the best results. They aren’t cheap, but if well cared for can last years. I might suggest getting a few different bristle types and see what works best with your paints and subjects.
It has been my experience that a good brush can be the difference between a superb paint job and mediocre one, so taking the time to find what works for you is probably well spent.
oh, I forgot to mention, the brushes that work best for me are usually labeled for acrylics and water paints, though I use them with enamels quite often.
Same here. I use brushes from an art store. Cost a bit, but deffinatly worth it.
The Model Master line makes some nice synthetic brushes. Not the old Testor’s ones. These new MM ones are pretty good quality.

I agree that good brushes are expensive, but they are worth the money. The Windsor and Newton brushes are excellent. I’ve also gotten good service from MicroMark golden eagle brushes. Properly cared for they will last a long time.
