p51 gear doors

I got a revell p51 B/C for chrismas im doing my first dropped flaps and ive searched google and airliners for wheel bay pics and half show the inner doors closed and other open I know the flaps lower at park when pressure bleeds which position would be correct for the inner gear doors

Depends. Anywhere from full up to full down and anywhere in between.

I’d coordinate the doors with the flaps because they leaked down also. Don’t put the doors full down and the flaps full up or the other way around.

And the doors didn’t leak down at the same rate either. If you look long enough you’ll be able to find pics of the doors at different levels of droop.

Mate - when the A/C was shut down, the hydraulic pump that controls the flaps and the gear doors is off - and the system de-pressurizes - allowing gravity to pull down the inner doors and the flaps. After a time, they both dropped when the plane sat parked.

But…make your model as you wish - and if YOU’RE happy with it, who cares what others may think?

Build to make yourself happy, and forget the rest!

Indeed I have seen Mustang pics with gear doors up, down, and intermediate positions. And those in intermediate positions were not equal drop left and right. Looks weird, but it is prototype.
