Here’s the Trumpeter 1/32 AVG Tomahawk, the aircraft is from 1st squadron. Finish is Tamiya acrylics, kit is OOB.
I had some worries about the kit cockpit, with all the gloom and doom about it being too shallow…well, it is, but, it looks pretty good. This kit is not an easy build. It reminded me of a throwback to the seventies, you know, nothing fits?
Some who spend the money may be disappointed, you have to use those modeling skills to make a decent. model. One very bright spot were the kit decals…they are excellent! I noticed on the box art that this plane had the three antenna wires spanning to both wings and the fuselage, WHEW! It took a while but I figured that one out…

Ohhhh yeah!!! Very nice P-40 Steve. The paint job looks flawless and very clean. It looks like you used pre-shading on the underside and you nailed it…nice and subtle. Congrats on a very nice build. BTW… is that gun sight PE or kit plastic?
Oh yeah… the cockpit also looks very well done.

Jerry-Thanks man, the sight is PE (included in the kit), there is also a plastic option,why you would use it I don’t know (unless you loose the PE sight?). The camo was a little tricky in that I had to allow for the painted out British roundels in the green pattern on the wings. This is an overlooked detail on a lot of AVG builds.

Nice build, Steve! Like Rick I have the 48th scale but haven’t built it. The cockpit on the smaller scale also has issues, but I haven’t decided if I’ll go aftermarket or not.
What did you use for the antenna wire?

I used 2lb test fishing line, then painted with MM enamel “steel”.
Nice job on the P-40. It definately looks realistic.
