Apart from the different propeller, were there any other visual differences between the P39D and the P39F?

Hi Chris,

Yes…most of the F’s had twelve exhaust stubs on each side. It also had the 37mm cannon as opposed to the 20mm cannon in the D model. And, as you mentioned, the D’s Curtiss electric propellor was replaced with a 10’ 4" diameter Aeroproducts Propellor on the F series.

Youll find the D1 was the only one with the 20mm cannon like the P-400 and that most of the D1 and D2s went to the USSR because the English didnt want em.
