P-61 Black Widow Decal Help

I am looking for the “Lady in the Dark” decals for a 1/48 P-61. Nobody seems to make them anymore, at least I am not having any luck finding them. Does know where I can come up with something that will work? Thanks

hey sorry to digress, but how did you apply the thin red strips?
cos my Revell monogram kit came withe a couple rows of about 4inch long red strips.
how did you do this?

I’ve got “Nightie Mission” “Husslin Hussy” and “Midnight Belle” but no “Lady in the Dark” As for the red lines, forget the decals. I have had great results masking and painting them on the model.

I only have the original kit decals (which are yellowed). My P-61 had a collision…with the ground. I use it as a shooting target. Now it doesn’t look so noble painted in a rainbow of colors!! lol

I agree with Swanny…I could never get those lines to work right…masking and painting is the way to go…off of the subject…Swanny, you do some really great work. It’s nice to see what a fellow Buckeye can do

Thanks Blackhawk - it’s how I stay sane.

Forget the red stripes that come with the kit. Aeromaster decals often come with a set of wingwalk stripes that are so much better. I would often cut these apart and trip away as much carrier film as possible when applying them. The only downside was that when you get one of their beautifully produced decals you’ll get something like three different sets of nose art for three different planes but only one set of wing walks!

Blackhawk, I could be wrong about this but I could have sworn that Aeromaster still had the Lady decals. Again I could be wrong but Pyn-up decals might also have them. Not too sure though. I’m always on the lookout for all things related to the P-61.

Best wishes,

Eric

That’s a beautiful “Lady” Eric…Aeromaster’s decals are currently not available. Also I could not find the info for “Lady in the Dark” through PYN-Up Decals. Thanks for the help though.

Thanks Blackhawk. I’ve got some other aftermarket decals for the Widow like “Midnight Madness” and “Jap Batty”. If you want them just say the word and they’re yours.

Eric

Thought I might have it, but alas no. I’ve got Aeromaster’s P-61 Black Widows Pt.1 548 NFS (3)

  • 42-5610 “Midnite Madness” Le Shima 1945;
  • 42-39454 “Cooper’s Snooper” Iwo Jima 1945;
  • 42-39405 “The Spook/Anonymous III”.

Checked all the sites I know and couldn’t find Lady in the Dark. Sorry.

Well I am ashamed to hijack a thread like this but I am currently working on a P-61 and I really hate the in box markings and have myself been looking for some other decals. I am pretty easy to get along with but if anyone has a set to sell I would be more than happy to buy a set. I can give you the in box sheet in trade if you want LOL.

blackcat

Eric,
I would be interested in those decals if the offer is still open. Please let me know.
Thanks

oh yeah… and how did you guys get the plane to stay on all 3’s?

Not to speak for the others, but nose weights like lead fishing line weights in the nose (attached to the inside with a few drops of CA) keep my tricycle landing gear planes from imitating their tail dragging cousins.

Blackhawk,

Contact me at “echolmberg@hotmail.com” I couldn’t find any contact info for you in your profile.

PS. Sorry for the lateness of this reply.

Hey Fellows,
Hate to change the subject, but I have a Northrop P-61 Black Widow 1/72 by MPC. I would like to know if anyone has input on the year it was produced. Its the Lady in the Dark with skulls, webs, black death, etc. Thanks.
