My grandpa served in the Air Force during Korea. A bunch of South African were stationed at his base and he was made a honorary member of the 2nd squadron “Flying Cheetahs”. He loved their planes, the P51 mustangs.
I would like to build a model of a South African P-51 and give it to him for Christmas. I would appreciate any information you could send me on good Mustang kits that won’t cost a fortune and where I could get South African Insignia decals
Get onto sampublications on the net. you want a backorder of the September 2001 issue of Scale Aviation Modeller International. it had a feature on Mustangs over Korea & has colour drawings of a SAAF Mustang No 335 of 2 sqn.
The aircraft number is the last three digits of it’s American registration number, carried on the fuselage & the bottom of the leg fairing.
