Hi all,
Anyone know where I can find reference photos of the P-47D “Fat Cat Chicago” that was with the 509th FS/ 405th FG? I am starting a P-47 and that is the one that I want to model. Any help is appreciated as always.
Thanks,
Steve

Eagle Strike has a large selection of decals for P-47’s. You might get not only ideas, but maybe the decals you’ll need.[2c]

There is a book on the 405th, ‘Thunder monsters over Europe’. It supposedly has 250 pictures. There may be one of Chicago Fat Cat. It is on the net at Martin Nevers, used books for $10. Check www.BookFinder.com. If you don’t know, the 509th had a red 24 inch band around the nose, and a red band around the tail, 12 inches, I think. The code is G9.
Here’s a page on a French site dealing with the 405th which has a photo of the ‘Fat Cat’…
Took a look through ‘Thunder Monsters Over Europe’, there’s nada in there on this ship. Also grunged through most of my 405th FG 9th AF stuff and haven’t come up with anything.
Fade to Black…
Thats an interesting sight BW I wish I could read French.
