P-47

just a quick question. would a p-47 have two star and bars on the bottom wing? the decal sheet from a kit that i have says there is suppose to have it on the bottom of both wings but i’ve inly ever seen it on the bottom of one wing…any thoughts?

Depends. The Jug I just finished, Schilling’s “Hairless Joe”, had insignia on the bottom of both wings.

If you check on the internet for the plane you are going to build (example:- 8th AF, Squadron number, fighter group number), you can get all kinds of photos of the plane and that will show you whether or not you need 1 or 2 stars and bars. Hope that this helps. If you need any more help, let me know.

Some did, most didn’t… They were placed there to help ID them easier… It’s gonna depend on the squadron you model it from…

Some Jugs had large national insignia added at the depot in England. The factory painted them on the top of the left and the bottom of the right. The depot added a huge one under the left wing.

If you don’t have the references, post the aircraft, sq, group, and we can look it up for you.
