P-47 Razorback Hot off the Bench

Been absent for a while (again). Finally managed to wrap up my Tamiya P-47 (1:48). This kit went together very well, although I found the wing-to-fuselage assembly a tad on the unique side. Detail straight from the box was exceptional, in my humble opinion. I did add just a modicum of custom things, such as engine wiring harness and brake lines, from copper wire. Decals were from Sky Models, as I did not want to do either of the schemes that come with the kit, since I have seen them done so many times already. Enjoy-

Nice build! Very impressive!

Beautiful jug! [tup]

Very nice work. Great looking Jug.

Regards, Rick

Very nice indeed modelnerd. Seems you were making good use of your time in your absence.

Very impressive ! I especially like the way you handled the panel lines, enough to be seen, without the “yipes” factor.

Very ,very nice. That’s a great looking Jug. Two things really jump out at me. First is the landing gear. Looks like the real thing. And second, I like the subtle dusting on the rocket tubes. I also like your choice of markings. All in all, this is one of the best P-47s posted on this site. Great work Nerd!!

Mr. Nerd,
First of all let me say I love your avatar! Cracks me up every time I see it! Secondly, sweet job on the Razorback. One of my favorite planes ever. I have the same kit in my stash and also wanted to get some aftermarket decals for it. any recomendations (besides the set you used naturally)? Thanks for sharing that lovely bird!
P.S. Your pilot is nice looking too!

ModelNerd:

Suh-Weet looking jug. How did you like the Sky Model decals? Nice, eh. While your skill far surpasses mine, one suggestion would be to slice through the decals with a sharp knife where they pass over panel lines. Then dab a touch of Micro Sol to snug them down. That being said, I agree with the other comments: that’s one beautiful bird.

Great pictures, too.

cool looking P-47d

Sweet Razorback my friend!
Thanks for sharing that.
Can’t wait to get around to building mine.

Fine job, very nicely done.

Great looking Jug! Love the subtle weathering that you used and the subtle blast stains on the rocket tubes!

Makes me want to get one of my own!

Wow!

Great looking build. Very nice attention to small detail, and the paint looks great. Nice panel lines, too. I know that will be a proud addition to your shelf!

[^] That is simply an awesome Jug.

Sweet looking razorback, nice work

Very nice work!

Great looking build.

The panel shading on the wings is very subtle, and looks excellent.

Thanks for sharing.

Simply a stunning build. The weathering is great, and I’m most impressed with the detail on the landing gears, especially your brake lines. Well done!
