P-40B

Hey everybody: I haven’t built an airplane model for probably 30 years, but recently I’ve had the urge to build a Pearl Harbor P-40. The question I have for you all is what topside color should it be? What research I’ve done has suggested shades from FS31108 (field drab) to MM olive drab. Anyone have any definite ideas for me? I prefer enamel, Humbrol or Model Master, but tell me what you recommend, regardless. Thanks,

Jim

Jim,

I’m pretty sure that at the time of Pearl Harbor the P-40’s there were Olive Drab over Neutral Grey. Not srue what the exact FS numbers are.

Jim - you should check out the P-40 Group Build over on the Group Build page.

Steve

I’m using Olive drab from Testor’s little square bottle over Model Master Neutral Grey for mine (a Clark Field P-40).

I hope you’ll come over and hang out with us on the P-40 group build on the Group Build page!

Sign up for the GB…do it now! LOL.

Theuns

Thanks for the info, guys. I’ll check out the group build!

Humbrol #66 - Olive Drab, HU 3 - Neutral Grey 43

Good choices–I’ve looked at the olive drab, but looks like Humbrol discontinued the neutral grey a few years back.
