P-40B Tiger Shark Update

Hey all,

I got working on my P-40 Tigershark after I returned from honeymooning on thursday. I haven’t had anything to do since its a holiday weekend but work on the model and do some house clean up so here it is.

pics are not the best I’ll try and get some better ones soon.

I chose to do a tiger shark, because I had never heard of one before. It was always a P-40 Warhawk or KittyHawk.

turns out the tiger shark was a special variant assigned to the AVG(American Volunteer Group) in China.

Everythings going pretty good, fits together well except for one small seam on the front which I will patch together.

Learning from some old mistakes on teh last model im masking the prop for painting. and i’ve used a little red and yellow on some buttons in the control panel to getive it detail.

Im hoping to do the flying tigers camo paint of Olive drab and Light brown, after doing the base coat of light blue for the bottom. but I still have a bunch more cleanup before I get there.

And lets here a cheer for having a woman that understands and encourages the hobby.

Cheers boy and girls

Dave

Good luck on the build. And heres a cheer for an understanding woman!!

Regards, Rick

So far so good. What kit are you using?

Looking good Garris! I’ve always loved the looks of the P-40. It’s one of the best looking prop planes for my money. I don’t know why, but it just seems to look right.

Monogram 1/48

That was the very first kit I ever built and i still enjoy improveing on it, enjoy and congrats![:D]

Looks good so far…I had two of them…the AVG version you’re working on and the US Army Air Corps scheme…Still want to do the RAF Desert Camo version…The model is an oldie but goodie…be careful with the fuselage to wing joint…is easy to foul up the dihedral angle with a joint gap…if you use the kit decals, pay attention to the shark’s mouth fit; it’s tricky…best of wishes on your marriage and hobby!

a glass raised to your understanding wife.

and a glass raised to the p-40. a beautiful plane.

Thad

congrats on both counts garris . i like the p-40 but it looks like single bullet could blow it to hell so ma fave plane is …THE P-47 OLE OLE OLe

Dortiz;
I’m building that very P-40. How do you avoid that gap without breaking the bottom half of the wing near where the landing gear mounts? I did break mine and have to repair it somehow. I would like to know as I have 2 more waiting. Another Haleiwa defender and an AVG machine.
Thank you;
Steve
