P-40 Warhawk aces symposium in Sacramento, CA, on August 31st-UPDATE

I just wanted to post his information for anyone in the area and interested in attending (Blackwolf3945?):

On Sunday, August 31st, the Northern California Friends (NCF), associated with the American Fighter Aces Association (AFAA), will be hosting a P-40 Warhawk aces symposium at the Aerospace Museum of California, located at the former McClellan AFB in Sacramento, CA. The symposium starts at 12:15 PM and the cost for non-NCF members is $35 ($30 for NCF members). The following aces will be on the panel to share their experiences flying the P-40 in the Pacific and China-Burma-India (CBI) theaters:

  1. Maj. Robert Aschenbrener-10 victory ace with the 49th FG
  2. Col. Joe Griffin-7 victory ace with the 23rd FG
  3. Capt. Lynn Jones-5 victory ace with the 23rd FG
  4. Col. James Morehead-8 victory ace with the 49th FG
  5. Lt.Col. Sammy Pierce-7 victory ace with the 49th FG

I have a copy of the symposium flyer, which I’d post if I knew how[%-)]. Anyhow, here’s a link the museum’s website, which hopefully will have the flyer posted soon (you might have to copy the link and paste it in your browser):

This promises to a great event, with other surprises in store! Feel free to post or PM me any questions on it. I’ll definitely be there!

If I lived closer, I’d DEFINATELY be there! Have a good time, and let us know how it goes. [tup]

Dang… unfortunately, I’m not ‘in the area’, and I just plain don’t have the dough to make it out there.

[sigh]

Be sure to fill us in…

Fade to Black…

I’ll let you guys know how it goes. The NCF is trying to round up some more P-40 pilots that, although won’t be on the moderated panel itself, will be guests in the audience.

I thought I’d bump this for anyone interested who might not have seen the post yet. Also here’s the flyer for the symposium:

It looks very likely that there will be a P-40 present during the symposium for static display!
