Nearing completion on my P-3A Orion. It will be in the VP-69 “Flying Totems”. Going to have a loadout of 2 harpoon missles and 2 torpedos.
Looks good bud, I had a girlfreind many moons ago that worked on those at Alameda NAS, her specific job was crawling in all of the tiny spaces like the tail boom to make repairs and adjustments and whatnot, she was 5’2", all of the male employees used to raze her all the time because of her size and because she was a woman working in a male only work environment, until one of them made the drastic mistake of rubbing her the wrong way, no one told them that she was a 3rd degree blackbelt in Karate, and a kickboxer and also instructed in those arts, after the rubbing no one messed with her again LoL
What scale is this kit? Ive been looking for an Orion kit for a while...see them do touch-n-gos at Atlantic City Airport all the time…love the sound of it`s engines.

What you’ve got the is a P-3C! The ports on the starboard side are a dead giveaway.
The large round one is the NAV/COM. The small port aft is the Sensor Station 3 (RADAR/SAD/ECM)
Aft of the wing, the large port is the Ordnance/Observer Station. IIRC, the two small ports are the galley
dinette.
Nice work so far on a too often neglected workhorse of Naval Aviation…Only two other military aircraft have
beenin service longer. The B-52 and the C130

It is a P-3C update I/II/III kit In 1/72 from Hasegawa. The fit really isn’t bad, it’s kit been around for many years now and has been updated quite a few times. The fit problems I have found a the engine exhuast cups, the engine cowls, and the sono bouy tubes. @ Ray I know it’s a C model but I’m leaving all that on due to the raised panel lines around the area. The kit is for my wives uncle who is a retired Navy Captain and P-3 Squadron commander of VP-69 and a few others. He looked the kit over as well and said just leave the two anntenas off the verticle stab and it would do him just fine ! He’s a systems engineer at Boeing so if he can live with it, I will be able to sleep at night.
Oh, another fit issue popped up in my head ! The clear parts need alot of dry fitting after you cut them off. I’m using an Express Mask I found at rollmodels.com . I put all the masks on and numbered them to their corresponding windows on the instructions. The ports aren’t in the model but numbered for finishing purposes. Likely after painting they will require more fitting before glueing in.

I’m a Systems Engineer at Lockheed Martin so I couldn’t leave it alone. I have that kit in my stash and hopefully, maybe one day will convert it into a model of the P-3B/D I got most of my time in while in the Navy…
