P-38 Pathfinder??

I just picked up a 1/48 Academy P-38L Pathfinder. The kits has no detail for the nose section. I’ve searched the net for everything I can think of. Does anyone know what was in the nose?? Any pics??

from my references the nose of the late path finders had radar for bombing, this was an off shoot of the droop snoops, instead of having a bombardier sit in the nose they put an radar dish & equipment in the nose, thus removing the plexiglass and putting a fiberglass nose piece in it’s place

So there was no radar operator in the nose as well?? Or did the pilot have a scope in the cockpit?

[2c] According to the “Great Book of Fighters”, “75 P-38L’s were converted to P-38M’s w/external AN/APS-4 radar w/second cockpit for radar operator aft of the pilot. Seeing little service before the war’s end.”

Janes’s “Fighting Aircraft of WW II” mentions P-38 ‘Pathfinders’ flying ‘J’ models with an elongated cylindrical nacelle with a blunt hemispherical nose w/‘Gee’ radar to bomd trhought clouds. They were unarmed and led other P-38’s on high altitude precision bombing runs.[2c]
