Hello everyone. Just thought I would post an update of where I am in a 1/32 Trumpeter P-38 Lightning build. I am doing a “long distance build” with my father, as this is his favorite plane from childhood and am trying to get him back into modelling. We’re converting this back to an “F” model to recreate a Glacier Girl, and I have already ordered the JRutman conversion set. I’m having my dad to the grunt work of making the resin peices fit nicely. For this conversion, I won’t update the cockpit, only because of the work I’ve already done. I am ready to ship the set to Dad for modification work!
Looks like your off to a good start. Glacier girl is an excellent subject. It still blows my mind what they did to get that bird out of the ice. Keep us posted.
Modeling will hopefully always be a “family sport”. My father will be 60 this month, and someday he’ll move on to a better place. The P-38F we build, which will take us a while to finish, will always be with me.
I forgot to mention that he has a peice of electrical wire from the original glacier girl that he got in Wisconsin in the late 80’s/early 90’s. We plan on burying it in the fuselage somewhere, and maybe even using shreds of it strategically on the model.
Great looking cockpit, love the detail. I like the historical fact that you have piece of the original plane to add to the model, should be a great touch to it.
Thanks for sharing, can’t wait to see finished pics. [:)]
Hiya. Yeah, I’ve been working on the Avenger now for about a month, I’m pretty much done with the construction, and hopefully soon I’ll have the kit ready for painting. I’ve made three Trumpeter 1/32nd kits so far, this one is the best, it comes together like a dream–almost no fit problems (except, I’m finding, with the canopy).
