P-38 1:48

My next door neighbor gave my 11 y/o son a plastic hasegawa model plane (P-38J lightning “virginia marie”) that he had barely started to assemble years ago. Only oe piece had been removed from the plastic mold frame and it is there. The problem is that only the decal instructions are here to help with assembly. All the structural plans are missing. My guess is that the decal instructions were seperate because their is a common set of assembly instructions for all the P-38 models so if anyone can point me to a set of the instructions for ANY P-38 by ANY seller, I would appreciate it so much. It is a 1:48 and likely 20 y/o at least, but it appears that only the instructions are missing.

Welcome to the forums!

Maybe this will help…

Revell P-38 Instructions

May not be the one you’re looking for but it may be of some use to you. If not, I’m sorry. Good luck on the build, and hopefully we’ll see a picture of it soon eh?

you’ll definitly need the hasgawa instruction because its the most complicated p-38 kit out there; it’s also a fiddle to build so your lad had better be dextrous! try contacting hasegawa’s importers or your local ipms branch; somebody will have one in their stash and could help out with instructions. take care aligning the booms, wings and fuselage. it’s nice when it’s done but academys is easier to build. sorry i can’t help with instructions- i don’t have a scanner or whatever you need to get them online. good luck; can we see a picture of it when it’s done, please?

Here a site if you seach for the kit number could find the one you need. Here a link to a kit on that site http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/

I don;t think I have the markings options you have, but I have a 1/48th Hase p-38 J. I’ll scan them tomorrow.

I heard the Nachimo kit was the same as the Hasegawa. Here are the plans for that:

hope that helps

I have that kit. If you’d like I could copy the instructions and mail them to you tomorrow.

ok, got them here. Use the parts map on the last page to match up what parts you have. The is the, “down beat” variant but I believe it the same kit. It could be different, so see what matches up. and here is the link. It’s in a zipped file. I have to use 4shared because it’s 4mb file. the site is safe, I’ve dl’ed hundreds of files here, no virus yet. hope it helps!

Hi, Bob, I have to disagree, respectfully, if we’re talking about the same kit. I have the Nichimo Lightning, and it’s definitely not the Hasegawa kit, it’s much older. I think it’s a repop of Aurora’s P-38, or another kit of that vintage. It has raised panel lines, and it has the decal locators molded on–and wrong markings, at that, it has the post-war USAF star-and-bar with the red stripe. It does have a cool 50’s-era display stand, though, with a globe base.

Best regards,

Brad

Hi there! I have the Monogram Pro Modeler intructions, which Im pretty sure is a re-boxed Hasegawa kit. Its for the F/G/H versions of the lightning. Let me know if you need `em.
