does oob mean that you cannot change the markings that come with the kit or can you change the paint scheme and markings?[?]
relax friend, there are no rules here!!! i don’t guess you’d call it OOB if you don’t use the kit decals and painting instructions. are you entering a contest or something? later.
If you’re going to enter an IPMS-rules contest, aftermarket decals are allowed for out-of-the box categories…

I refer to a build as OOB if I used only the kit parts & no aftermarket Resin or PE goodies. But kit decals are sometimes of poor quality, or don’t have the markings for the aircraft i want to depict, so I usually use aftermarket decals. If you’re building for competition, find the exact rules for the contest before you build as interpretation of OOB has varied over time. IPMS rules are available on their web site.
