Our Work Stations

I just thought it would be neat to see what type of work station everyone has. Every work Station is set up differently to suit that particular modelers needs. So lets see your work stations!

Here are some pics of mine. Since these have been taken I hve added a table belt and rotery sander and routing staion. Not only do I build models but I also build replicas of World War Two weapons in the form of airsoft guns.

Some pics of my stash:

VA

Mah… That’s awsome! Wish I had something like that… And that broken B-24, it looks beautifull… more pictures? [:)]

And what’s that alone table in the middle of the room for?

I’ll get some of mine up later…

Is the B-24 The lady be good? I have wanted to do that for some time now… I’ll add my pics later as well!

VA- You have a really Nice Setup [tup] Some nice looking Builds also and I am Way Impressed that a lot of your Stash is Monogram & Revell . [party] You need to come over to the PBY/Halloween GB and show off yours. [:)]

Here is my little work area- I do the most of my building on the right~hand side of the bench. The Left Side is my paint mixing and storage [sigh] for right now. (waiting for some glass shelfs) The boxes on the floor contain Squadron Walk Arounds. Behind the shelf and to the right of the bench is a 4 drawer filing cabinet that is Decal Storage. Also not seen to the right of the Doorway is a Reference Bookshelf and on the left my Computer Desk - Then there is a walk~in closet that is filled to the gills with kits. (more like a false wall) [:-^]

Do a search under work spaces…last year there was a massive thread asking us to show off our work spaces, you will find loads of shots.

I remember that one, but a lot can happen over a years time - Photos Get Deleted, improvements can happen.[tup] Here is what I was buildin off of utill I remodeled my Hobby Room last Spring . An old Vanity salvaged from the landfill.

Old

I put this up a couple of years ago. It hasn’t changed any. Still as messy, probably with the same things. I got the bag camo from “Paper Bags in Detail and Scale.”

Here is my station + my paint storage desk.

I’ve probably got double in that stash now from when that photo was takes about 8-9 months ago.

You guys are working way too neat! [:D]

Here are two shots of mine:

My brother dubbed this “the Forge”, but I’ve since moved my casting pot out to the garage.

My storage space is behind the perspective of the camera, so you can’t see the shelves with my stash, or the old oak desk chair I use.

I’m thinking of adding a set of rails around the lower part of the bench, to support a piece of plywood for more storage. I’m also thinking of adding a back to the benchtop, for more shelving, a paint rack, etc. Right now, my paints are all in the tool chest and cookie tins you see in the second pic.

The floor looks kind of bare, too. I had some carpeting down, but had a burst water heater the Saturday before Christmas. Not too bad, but the carpet got soaked, so I ripped it out. A new coat of cement deck paint, and it’ll look OK.

But at least it’s warm down there, when the oil burner fires off.

Regards,

Brad

Seriously, though, you guys have some nice facilities! I like the solutions for storage that you’ve come up with.

Heh, wait till you see mine! You will no longer consider your bench “messy”.

Here’s mine after a New Year’s weekend cleaning…start out the new year off with a clean shop. I might actually be able to find stuff too! [;)]

Got the spares all clustered together too!

Got the cable TV hooked up again too…I’m all set. Long weekend with old war flicks, some high-octane hot chocolate…some munchies and I’m locked into Modeling Mode! See more about my workshop.

Damn VA!!! I’m extremley jealous of not only your work area(s) but your stash is great as well! I wish I could get my hands a couple of those kits, oh well. I’d like to see a few more pics of the “lady be good” dio, look’s pretty good from what I can see.

My station is in an alcove in my bedroom. I only have 6 ft. width of space. To airbrush I put a collapsible cardboard box over the desk and get the fan going with respirator. You can see part of my stash under the desk in the first shot. It works for me but I can only build small to medium-small models.

Here’s mine…I just cleaned, and got a tripod for my little point and shoot, so it seemed like a great time for pictures.

Before. This is her side of the desks…we wanted to be able to do our hobbies in the same room:

Before. This is my corner…

Behind me, my newly completed spray booth. I love it! Here’s a few older pics:

Looking left. You can see the very nose of my “Betsy the B-24” poster, my scratchbuilding supplies in the left stack o drawers, my paints and putties and large tools in the right stack o drawers, as well as part of my stash peeking out of its nook.

Looking directly ahead. Try to spot my Lego Party Dragon, complete with coors bottle cap hat, a gift courtesy of SWMBO[#toast][party]. I got a new Ott Lite today (they’re all 50% off at Joann’s until the end of the month), which is visible:

The whole thing:
I try to change up my screensaver to reflect whatever the current project is.

Eventually, I’d like to build a hutch or a pegboard back to my area, but that’ll probably have to wait until we have a house, as apartment walls out here aren’t good for structural support.[xx(]

Hope you like! Please tell me any comments you may have. I love these threads, and save all the pictures that get posted. You never know when someone is going to post a storage/working space solution to something you’re working on.

Cheers,
Alex

Just posted a bit about cleaning mine out. So heres a copy

The left side of my work bench, the black thing where the remote and tape sit is my elbow rest, simply put, the tape needs to be put away… and the remote, I just got cable up here like, yesterday. (YAY!)

This is the top drawers of my organiser, that has been cleaned and organised as well. On the left my dremel bits, super glue, wire, and gloves. On the right is ALL my real tools, blades files, glues, putties, nippers, clippers, saws, etc etc. There all held down by double sided tape.

Lower Drawers. Left side Acrylic paint, washes, tape, smaller parafilm (you can see the larger in the previous shot on the top of the organiser). Right side is my enamel paints, mixed paints, and misc paints.

Middle of my Work desk. My cutting mat, my builds, and whatnot.

My compressior and Dremel got their own table.

I also cleaned my stash out and organised it.

Aircraft, Seacraft, and Figure kits (+some mechs)

Scifi

Armor

Here’s mine. Clean and “normal” LOLOL

OK here is my bench and my stash. All in the same room with the oil tank and furnace so its nice and toasty in the winter.

My new compressor which doesn’t have a permanent home yet.

Hi, Alex, did you build the booth yourself, and if so, do you have any pics of the work while it was in progress?

I’m going to build one out of plywood. I noticed that yours seems to use a downdraft to vent, is that right? I never thought of that, but I’m curious to try that design on mine.

I also like how you’ve recycled a grill grate for the bottom surface of the booth, I like not wasting anything.

Regards,

Brad

I think it also doubles as a BBQ grill for those days when t’s too cold to light up the hibatchi out back![swg]
