Our Work Benches

Just spent a couple of Hours tidying up my Work Space and here it is. Be interesting to see where everyone else does their fun projects…Cheers mark

My dad built my bench. Butcher block bench top. One of my favorite spots to be.

Great space like the hanging point rack also.

I used the shutdown as an opportunity to rebuild my bench. I figure I’ll be using it a lot in the near future!

The laptop is not permanent; it’s just there while I’m working from home.

Here’s a quick shot I took of the bench the other day to prove that I actually picked the bench up some. Usually it’s a mess but I know where everything is, except for the wee piece of PE that just shot off the tweezers.

Nice work areas, folks. This is always fun to do. It adds a personal touch to see where everyone hangs out.

I recently did some housecleaning too, so I’ll play.

Like many here, plenty of idle time and it was nice to get off my backside and do a bit of organizing, start a new kit.

Would love to play along but in a month I am moving everything from the dining room and basement, into one room. Glad to see these photos for ideas on things I’d like to change when I move.

New to the forums and came across this thread. Please, no laughing at my disaster of a workbench. Nothing has changed since I was a kid… the workbench starts out well organized and clean when a model is started… and looks like a tornado hit as it nears completion!

OK, need some help… this is my first attempt at adding a pic to a post. And as you see, all I got was a link. How to have the pic itself appear in the post?

Woohoo! Success! Thank you Greg, I would never have figured that out on my own!

On your postimage page, press the ‘share’ button.

Copy the “direct link” address

Back here in your post, press the ‘insert/edit image’ button. It’s on the second row of icons in the ‘Post Body’ GUI. Just to the right of the chain link icon. It looks like a little mountain.

Copy the Direct link into the ‘source’ field of the insert image GUI.

You should see your image pop up in your post body.

We have an active member here who has a law which states somethink like no matter how large a work surface you have, you will only end up with a clear area of 18" x 18" maximum. Maybe not exactly what Morrison’s Law states, but it’s close and you get the idea.

That’s not so bad…

Please see post directly above yours.

Up Yonder…

Oops, you already saw it.

See Rick, I told you.

Working on cleaning up a Devastator and P-40 for the museum and took the Paddle Steamer Great Western off of the “Shelf of Doom”. The ship is on an old plastic kitchen cabinet round turntable on a folding food tray because there isn’t any room on the workbench (as usual). I usually try to clean up the bench after a couple of builds. It was last cleaned up 2-1/2 years ago when we moved in.

PS - When at my last job, before retiring, I used to keep my desk there free of junk and papers. One day I was told “An empty desk is the sign of an empty mind”. Does that mean “A cluttered desk is the sign of a cluttered mind?” If it does, I’m in real trouble.[;)]

I tend to keep my work area pretty clean. My paints, brushes, fillers, glues, are stored in the wood cabinets. That’s my Monogram 1/48 B-29 sitting on the counter top. Because of its size I have no place to display it, so it just sits on the counter top looking at me. The round cylinders are EU MegaBoom speakers. I like to play music when I work. I bought the chair at Office Depot. Really comfortable. I can sit in it for hours without developing a stiff back. Currently I’m working on a 1/12 scale F1 race car. The engine is sitting in the middle of my work bench.

Some nice looking work also Jim

here’s mine

My obligatory pic.

Paint rack I built behind the door

And my home built display cabinet just to the right of my bench.

I’m outta space. We are hoping to move this summer, but with this as they are we most likely won’t. I have to make due with cramped quarters and no more space for completed works. I hope to get more organized when we do move.

Off for Good Friday back to work Tuesday time to chill.
