Our ancestors.

I have been for a while wanting to learn more about very early aviation, before the Wright brothers. When people would put a small glider together, would jump off a hill or cliff, crash and say woops I guess Ill try again.

Could anyone help me with finding the dates these things flew and types of craft used in these endevors. Also Hot air ballons fall into this catigory for me too.

Thanks a bunch[:D]

Try looking in the front of almost any aviation book. They all usually capture at least some of the silly early attemps of flying.[;)]

I just finished a book,

Unlocking The Sky : Glenn Hammond Curtiss and the Race to Invent the Airplane

while it talks about Glenn Curtiss and the Wright’s feud with him specifically, the first 1/2 fo the book talks about early aviators in late 1800’s.and early 1900’s. With pictures of some of their efforts.
