OT: Cool CNN.com video of B-17!

http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/04/11/usaf.flyover/index.html

About a recent rare birds fly-over in D.C. at the Air Force Memorial. Good footage of the B-17, including a short walk-through of the interior (very cool!) and in-flight shots from the cockpit (engine start, flight, and touch-down on the runway). Interview at the end with Maj. Gen. William Lyon, who apparently owns the bomber.

awesome!

cool

Holey crap…it’s Fuddy Duddy!!! I’m glad to see she’s still flying!!! She used to belong to the national warplane museum in Geneseo NY. She was the star of that small museums collection. The museum used to have 2 B-17’s, the other one was in the movie memphis belle. Bomber Bob Richardson owned it till he died, and the plane got sold, I dont know where she went.

The P-40 in the video belongs to HAG, (historical aircraft group) based in Geneseo NY, they are what’s left over of national warplane museum, which moved from geneseo and took fuddy with em. They used to have a PBY-catalina also, I wish I knew what happened to her.

Great video!!!

I bought one of the original Monogram B-17s from Evil Bay (only ten bucks!) last week, and after watching that video, I wanna do it in NMF! But I’ve never done NMF and seems hard.

Hey porkbits, read this thread if already havent, I’m doing the experiment with aluminum powder for a good NMF, finnaly after all these years. A B-17 done up with this would look sweet, I’m considering doing one of mine in NMF, but I want to do some more experimenting first.

I can’t believe I missed that. I live in Old Town Alexandria, VA which is about 3 miles south of Reagan National Airport (the airport that is flown over in the video). I did get to watch the Air Force Memorial Dedication which had a flyover of aircraft representing the history of the USAAC/USAAF/USAF, including a Stearman, B-17, P-51, F-86, F-15, B-52, B-1 and many more. Oh yea, and a Thunderbird demo to boot. I watched from a park named Gravely Point which is located just off of the end of 01/19 at Reagan. It’s a great place to watch airplanes.

Yes, I just saw that news clip, fantastic! I am not asking to break any copyright laws or anything, but does anyone know if you can save the video clip in your hardrive? That interior walkthru can come in handy… cheers

JMart:

I’m not positive, but my guess is that the movie is in Flash format. If so, there are software apps and/or browser plug-ins you can download/buy that enable you to save Flash movies to your drive. Google “Save Flash Movie” and see what turns up!
