hello

As some may know, Im working on my first ever piece of armor. All of my previous experience was with aircraft.

My questions is do you generally do a wash to accent panel lines and details? This is very common from most model aircraft I have seen. If so, do you highlight everything (panel lines, bolts, hinges, etc), and what colors do you use?

Thanks.

I wash all the recessed areas and bolts and whatnot that will have an impact. Followed by drybrushing.

I also giver everything a nice wash and then drybrush. As for colors, the wash is black and burnt umber usually, the dry brush is a lighter version of the paint base

I think Eric & Jason hit it on the head.I’m waiting to apply my second wash coat to a Puma right now!!![#ditto]

It really depends on what you want to do. Try one way, then another. Eventually, you’ll get a feel for a certain look you want. I always do a few coats of wash, progressively getting darker, then dry brush over everything.

Cheers!

Mike

Hmmm, i have never done a wash…never had all the materials for one in one spot at the same time, but i think mine look decent…

I don’t generally give everything a wash, but it’s almost everything. Around any recessed, raised areas, corners, joining lines, bolts, everything like that. Basically, the only areas not to receive a wash are large, flat areas, unless they have a surface texture, in which case they too will get a wash.

I wash everything. Can’t stand it when they are clean. Isn’t it funny that we wash stuff to make it dirty [:D][:p][:o)]
