I just ordered this kit (the ausf.d) version)…just wanted to know who’s built it already, and stuff I should look out for…
Have built a couple. Nice build,gun bracket a little flimsy and the vinyl tracks were a little tight. Other than that it went togther like a Tam. kit.[^]
I could be wrong but I think this is one of their older kits. Not as nice as their new offerings but still pretty good. I built this one about 25 years ago if I remember!
wasnt a bad kit at all as i recall. If you’re one for accuracy, then avoid building vehicle 11 from the 11th panzer division. That tank was actually an ausf E. Other than that, builds like a tamiya kit.
I made it long ago and I think that is good model except the tracks … [xx(] Hey Deicide good nick Deicide and Glen rulz [bow][:-^]
Tristar is coming out with a new state-of-the-art Panzer IV D. The old Tamiya kit wasn’t bad, but is seriously outdated compared to many of today’s kits.
Oh,No!
Tristar will release a Pz.IV Ausf.D soon.
In my opinion, Tristar is always the best in injection moulded AFVs and figures.
i’m currently building a panzer IV as we speak, can’t say as ive run into any kind of problems yet other than getting the tracks to lay straight, good kit over all in my opinion.
haha “builds like a Tamiya kit…” I woulden’t know how one builds, this will be my first from them! I’m actually new to armor kits, my main modeling subjects were sci-fi over the past years, I’ve only built an Italeri 1/35 Sherman and a 1/72 German halftrack…other than that I’m a newbie to military kits.
I got it for $16 on discount though, not a bad deal IMO…
@Dragan: Deicide = awesome, awesome band indeed[8D]
Builds like Tamiya is a good thing, Deicide!
Don’t worry about the newer kits. The Tristar release is good news, but I’m actually glad you’ve got an older Tamiya kit as your first armour build. There are some inaccuracies, but nothing to fret seriously about unless you are a dead-hard armor dude. The great thing is that it will build easy and be fun. Then, if you decide you like armor kits, pick up something a little more challenging. The newer kits are awesome – we are lucky to be armor fans in this day and age – but they are often very complicated.
Then in a year or two, if the tank turns you on, circle back and get that Tristar! [;)] Once you commit to armor, definitely check in with this community or others in the know so you can get the low-down on what the best kit for each vehicle is.
Look at it this way – which Trek kit would you suggest for someone new to that genre – the Polar Lights Enterprise, or a big expensive resin kit? [8D]
Their PzKpfw I is a thing of beauty. Look at the PzKpfw IV, very nice: http://www.hlj.com/product/TRS35015
I’m a big fan of the Pz I. They announced the kit right after I bit the bullet and bought the Accurate Armour kit, which cost a small fortune. [B)]
