After the J-Aircraft web site had some nice article on Japanese aircraft colors but they are all off line now. So I’d like to ask the opinion of Japanese aircraft model builders on a suitable color for the cockpits of Pearl Habor Zeros. For myself I’ve been leaning towards the ‘Bamboo Green’. I think the ‘Aotake’ color was not used for Zeroes, at least for the Pearl Habor time frame.
Ah, never mind. I just found a link about the A6M5 cockpit thread that had reference to the A6M2 in it. Good enough for me. SHould have known pixilater woudl have had the answer.
That topic comes up frequently, and we’ve yet to resolve it to anyone’s satisfaction. The same applies to American cockpits of the period. Every manufactuer it seems had their own interior colors.
Yeah, my reference, from the book “Cockpits,” is bamoo green for that type Zero. But who knows?
New growth bamboo or old growth bamboo?
I’m going with Mitsubishi cockpit green on the one I’m building.
It’s probably the same as this “bamboo green,” and in fact, it is strikingly similar to RAF interior green.
