operation desert storm m1a1 colour

Hey All,
I just picked myself up a m1a1 and m1a1h1 both from DML. I use tamiya acrylics and would like to know what clour should i use to paint them?? I have found some humbrol enamels which are close but i really would like to use tamiya acrylics. I want to get that real desert sand color as close as can be!!

Any help is greatly appreciated… thanks Dave

Model Master Acrylics has a color “U.S. Army/Marines Gulf War Armor” that I use. Can’t get any more specific than that and it looks real good sprayed on

thanks for the speed reply,I’ll go check out my lhs and see if they stock model master. once again thanks Jwest

Dave

No problem. That’s where I got mine but www.greatmodels.com has it instock, under te4812 AR00200 US Army/Marines Gulf Armor Sand (F)

FYI- they also make Armor Sand, but to me it looks a little off and less like the pictures I have seen

I prefer the Testors Model Master Sand. It is lighter thean the U.S. Army/Marines Gulf War Armor Sand. The Sand looks like what my vehicles in the motor pool are painted. Once washed and drybrushed for weathering, it is a perfect match for me.

can’t argue with a guy who works in a motorpool!!

for interests sake, what colour in the humbrol enamals should i look for?

thanks dave

HOOOAH on the MM # 1706 sand, its as close as Ive seen to the vehicles here. I have seen a lot of replacement parts in the MM Armor sand FS 30277, so I like to dabble a little of that color into a vehicle.

yea i did the gulf armor sand on m1a1 and it looks good

How about pollyscale’s desret storm sand?
I have it but havent tried it yet. what do you think?
