here we go again!
I simply could not resist any longer, I fell in love with an idea for another small Diorama and I thought I let you all participate in the progress of this work.
So if you like I will post all pictures which I will take during the next few weeks.
Scale is as usual for me 1:72 and my current working title for this little Dio is simply: Oooh Sh**!..So guess what’s happening

You going to use that Wildcat in the background to be falling off a carrier deck? That’s going to be a cool build. I built that exact same kit for the 2008 48hr GB, nice little kit.

I am guessing along the same theory as FastasEF. The evidence suggests so. A Wildcat kit, a photo of a carrier aircraft going off the deck…and your dio ‘base’ has a vague shape that could well be construsted into a section of a carrier deck…
Hey, the ’ OH S*#! ’ predicament could be a cool idea for a whole series of dioramas! Be interesting to see what original ideas people could come up with…

Hi there and here I am again,
after a week full of work (I had to work at a Trade fair here in Salzburg) I’m back in my hobby cave and restarted the work on my current project a little Dio with the appropriate? title Oooh Sh**!
So far I have done only a little more till last time but I thought I’d show you. Currently I’m working on the planking of this part and this will last a few more days before I can start the work on the next part.
I also asked you to guess what this Dio willl show and some suspected referingf to the bits and pieces you could see in the background of the last photos, maybe the Wildcat and that book was only to throw you off?
So once again (if you like) take a close look (or maybe two) and try to guess what’s going to happen.

Hi there again,
here I am back again with the next update on my small Dio. As you can see I have been busy working on the Dio base, nothing really new here, just lots of bits and pieces, all of them scratch build, including the PE parts which I use for the Tiedown Tracks and the arrestor wire, the Elevator grating and the barricade and some more to come.
So lets have a look at the pictures and I really hope you like it.

The wooden planking is finally done, looks good, does’nt it?
Only some cleanup and thats it.
Those wooden strips are 2mm wide, 0,5mm thick and most important Real wood, and believe me there is no substitute for this!
with some plastic styrene I started the work on the catwalks.
Different sizes for various stations alongside the catwalk will make the whole dio more interesting, actually the dio base itself will be some kind of model for itself

Looks as if they are already suspecting something bad coming along, the crash crane is in place and someone is testing that barrrier too!

Hi Boomer,
thanks for thew nice words about my work. All PE parts were done by myself. I have done them years ago for my Escort Carrier Model in the same scale, In total I made 4 complete sheets each about 20 x 30cm large with various parts for this kind of work. Currently I’m working on the next sheet with even more bits and pieces.
Lot of work but if you really need such parts frequently its worth the time and effort and the quality is absolutely outstanding

Ok. I remember looking at your carrier model. I saved pics of it ages ago. A very impressive model too!
It’s great that you can do your own stuff like that. Makes modelling a lot cheaper if you can manufacture the things you need yourself.

Hi there again,
today Iafter I finished my days work in the office I returned to my hobby room and continued the work on my little Dio and I think it*s about time for the next update, so if you like it, here it is what I have done today and during the last few days since my last post.
I finished the work on the catwalks,I added 3 Oerlikon guns (scratch build), here’s one of them
and some other parts including the barrier and some arresting gear on the flight deck
So far I have not colored those new parts, so be patient with me. There is a Mk 51 director for a 40mm Bofors (which is not part of this dio, but I thought it would be a nice touch to the dio…what the heck!
Just to give you some feeling about the size…

If I might venture a guess:
I think there will be a guy or guys running/diving for cover as the aeroplane gets a little too close for comfort.

that was a fast one! AND a joyfull one!
I hade the idea for this Dio since quite a while but never a real good idea what to build. Then I stumbled across 2 pictures and voilà there it was. Within hours after I found those 2 pc’s I started to work.
Just to give you an impression what I’m talking about here are the 2 pictures:
No. 1. A very dramatic shot of a Wildcat ripping up the Flightdeck, that was the pic which triggered the idea but I knew for sure that building those splinters-cloud would be at least…dificult
but then I found another picture showing another unlucky Wildcat:
this one was split in two when catching the arrestor wire:
