I’m suprised that I haven’t seen a kit for the M-50 Ontos. That is one bad looking tank. Does anyone know if there is a kit out there?
It seems to me I’ve seen one somewhere. I’ll have to go searching. It is one bad motha…(hush yo mouth!) [8D]
There was a resin kit in 1/35th and Revell made one a long time ago in 1/40th (I think).
Hobby Fan kit #HF003 is a pricey resin kit. Renwal also made one in 1/32 scale. Revell reissued the Renwal kit in 1982 or 83. Even partially built Renwal or Revell kits go for some high money on eBay. I have a Revell kit I built my freshman year in college (82-83) and a friend gave me a partially built Renwal kit in 2001. Same kits, Revell just blocked out Renwal’s logo and added their own name and date.
Found some more info if anyone is interested:

wow $130 for a hobbyfan kit in 1/35 and it is a small tank
[:D]yeh the kits are pricy,i just payed $75.00 plus tax for an m-88,nam era kit.[:D]
The Ontos was not only an imaginative design, but it was also extremely effective in the bunker busting fire support it was called upon to do in Vietnam. I have heard stories of how the Viet Cong would flee at the sight of an Ontos.
Many have speculated that the heavy defence robot Monster MK II, from the Japanese cartoon ‘Super Dimension Fortress Macross’, was inspired by the Ontos…

you get 2 of them in the hobby fan kit
Nice site Illusion. The Ontos was originally developed for the airborne to give them anti-tank capabilities once they hit the ground. RP Hunnicutt’s book, Sheridan, has a comprehensive section on the Ontos and proposed artillery and anti-tank gun variants. AFV Interiors had a very nice section on the Ontos before they went offline. I was lucky enough to get a copy of their website before they went away.
Is there any way you could send a copy my way? Please![:D]
What would have been really cool is if they had proceeded with the revolver design. SIx 106mm with 6 rounds each ready to unleash some havoc. I’m suprised how little ammo they carried, only 18 i believe, including whats already loaded in the rifles.
Well said. Sure looks mean.

Thanks for sharing.
Nimix do a 1/35 scale resin kit.
It retails in the U.K. for around £40
There is another Manufactuer supposedly coming out with an Ontos. The site is not so much for the kit as the great pictures they have posted of the interior (I suspect they got these from the old AFV site)
I have been scrounging the interntet nonstop for the past 2-3 days and meander upon those phots. They are the only technical drawings I could find. I have also contacted a number of museums with the Ontos and have started to get replies. If all goes well I will have some good close up shots that I would be more than willing to share with those who are interested.
Also, does anyone happen to have the AFV interiors section on the Ontos saved that they could send my way? Thanks.

FYI, there’s going to be a restored Ontos here at Ft. Knox on the 4th of July. I will take photos and ask if I can get inside. They’re also going to have a flamethrower demo here too.
That would be great. Time to whoop out the smoores!
Photos … GREAT! Lookin’ forward to it.
