Online model retailers

Hello all. I normally have used my local hobby shop for my kit ideas, but as I branch out and start looking for specific kits, I was wondering what some of the best internet sites are for ordering models (selection, price, satisfaction).

Hi there AH1Wsnake,

I can only talk about the ones I have personal experience with and I have never had a major issue of supply with the following:

Great Models Webstore http://www.greatmodels.com
Meteor Productions http://www.meteorprod.com
Squadron.Com http://www.squadron.com

Greatmodels has a great selection but don’t bother ordering something that is out of stock as it can take ages to come in. If the item is in stock, you’ll have no problems.

The only down side to Meteor is that they don’t display how many of an item they have in stock, or if its in stock which is a bit of a pain. Other than that, great service.

Don’t be scared off by Squadrons mail costs as they only give you a guesstimate at the time of order, they adjust to the actual shipping cost on dispatch. Overall great selection and good prices.

Cheers
Darren

…i 2nd darson’s post, especially if you’re in the U.S.

I have also used Squadron and was completely satisfied.

2 others I recommend are:
www.hometownhobbies.com
Excellent selection and easy to navigate [tup][tup]
www.scalehobby.com
A newer one so the selection is slightly limited but growing rapidly. Customer service is excellent. [tup][tup]

I shop online through www.missionmodels.com , www.squadron.com and www.modelmecca.com

All three sites are good when it comes to selection and customer service, but I am very satisfied with missionmodels. The owner has a lot of conversions and kits that aren’t available elsewhere.

rollmodels anyone?

i don’t particularly like ordering from gm, cause my trump big mig 21 took 16 days to get here to canada, And i had to pay an extra $11 bucks for shipping. on top of the $7 when i ordered

note it’s not I, its someone i know. next time, i’ll tell them to mark it as a gift

thanks seanrgb [:D]
