I went and bought a frame tonight at Michael’s for this 18" x 24" autographed poster I bought at the Nationals in Phoenix and thought you all might like to see it. It was a pleasure and an honor to meet the three gentlemen who signed it for me. It alone made the trip worth attending for me. [8D]
That definatly is cool Mike,Thanks for letting us get a look. Will the wife let you hang it over the mantle with spotlights on it? I hope so… you have every right to be proud.
I would say that Phoenix is hotter temperature-wise, but Atlanta has high humidity which makes breathing more difficult and temperatures feel even hotter. [:D]
I got Robert Morgan’s autograph a few years ago, and i’ve been meaning to frame it. Would like to accompany it with a nice lithograph of the Memphis Belle by Robert Taylor.
If any one isn’t familiar with Robert Taylor, he does a whole slew of aviation art that is just unreal (but a bit pricey). Search for him on the net or on E-Bay.
I wish I could have met Robert Morgan.
I just looked up Robert Taylor’s work and it is real nice.
This guy was also at the Nationals and he does nice work also.
His work is mostly airbrushed also as he thinks it is great to use air to paint airplanes. [;)] http://www.airartcsbailey.com/
Mike, I envy you that print. I got a photo at last year’s Nats signed by Gabby Gabresky, his armorer and crew chief. Hopefully I’ll see some of you at the Nats in Atlanta next year.
I thought you meant that you met Gabby last year but that is not possible since he died Jan 31, 2002. Did someone have it for sale? Is it in color?
He is my favorite P-47 pilot. [:)]
I have read some of it and it is excellent so far.
I just read the first battle he decribed where he shot down that ME-109 that stalled earlier than his Mustang did so he was able to bear his guns on it.
Amazing stories for sure.
