One of my current projects, scratchbuilt fire truck.

Can’t remember the last time I showed any kind of builds so I figured I would put up my current one. I am doing a 1937 open cab fire truck. This is a combination kit bash and scratchbuild. I don’t know the exact type truck it is going to be as of yet since I have this bad habit of planning as I go along. The buildlog for it can be found here on my site.

Any comments are welcome.

What a brilliant site. The build log is facinating and Im watching and waiting for the how to section to get up and running, because I can use all the help thats going[(-D]

Thanks. Hopefully will have a couple of guides up this weekend some time. Probally be foiling trim , salt weathering and useing wood for simulating wood.

lizard: Nice Build! [bow]

nice built indeed !
keep us updated.
BTW how did you put the gold leaf on? looks very good!

Thanks guys.

Hans- For the goldleafing I tried out one the few things I could come up with. I took the smallest strip styrene that my LHS carried and painted it with Tamiya gold leaf. I then took a pencil and a ruler and as best as I could made the marks where I wanted the lines at. Then just glued the strips onto the body. They are a bit raised , but it should work. I have found out since that there is smaller strip than I used which would have worked great. I think what I used was .010 and they have .005.

Absolutely brilliant, Chris!

ok Chris.
i think the gold leaf looks very very sharp!!!

Fascinating Chris. I’ll going to follow the build with interest. Thanks for sharing

Thanks y’all. Should be finishing up the cab details over the weekend.

Nice build, looking forward to more updates.

Have a nice weekend!
