This is a 1/72 scale ICM BTR-152K that I’d gotten already built from a collection that was sold to a local hobby shop. I got it and a bunch of other 1/72 scale armor kits for a buck a box.
Anyway, all I had to do was paint this, but since the gun was missing, I decided to mount a .50 caliber M-2 on the front instead. Then I also figured I’d use two .30 caliber guns from a couple of ROCO machinegun sets to mount in the back.
After looking at it, I felt that the M-2 was too high and unprotected. So, like the Israeli’s would have done, I improvised a gun shield on this to protect the .50 gunner.
Not much else to say here. This is the final set of photos of this Israeli BTR-152K that I added the gun shield to. I weathered the shield a bit with some drybrushing, but I tried to make it look semi-new; as if it had been recently added.
Here it is:

Thanks for looking, comments are welcome.
I must say you come up with some eclectic stuff. Definately don’t see this everyday. Nice job on the seats and the drybrushing really adds to it too. Nice build, but I find it always fun when you use an object for size reference.
Very nice again Duke. But I would like to point out a little something: The 0.30 Cal pistol grip should be the same color as the rest of the gun.
I like the paint work you did on the benchs.
Well buddy, this little dude just “don’t do much” for me. It looks very toy like, and as a matter of fact, unrealistic to the point of wondering why you would bother. Please don’t be offended, you’re a really nice guy and I’m just telling you what I think in a friendly way. If you like it and are enjoying yourself, that is all that matters.
regards,
Steve
Duke,
Looks great, and it must have been a fun subject. So when are we starting the Isreali 72nd scale GB?
Grant
Thank you all for commenting, I really appreciate it, and look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you Jean-Michel, I’ll get that fixed. Thank you for the tip.
Thank you Grant. It was pretty fun, considering I didn’t even have to build it.
What an intriguing idea, a 1/72 scale Israeli Group Build. I may have to look into that; I have several kits to be built as Israeli.
Crockett, no offense is taken at all. Yes, it is a pretty toy-like little model, I wholeheartedly agree with you there. But then all ICM kits are. It is a vehicle that did exist; the Israelis captured hundreds of them from Egypt during the 1956 and 1965 wars. They were modified in many different ways with differnt armament configurations. Whether any of those configurations match mine I don’t know, but anything is possible. Still, I went ahead and finished it because I did get it in a box with another kit for only a buck-a-box. Actually, that means I only paid .50 cents for this one! LOL!
Like you said though, I enjoyed being able to ‘re-arm’ this one and I got to practice some more weathering. If I can find a detail set maybe I’ll detail it more later. I won’t ever be entering it in competitions, but if anyone challenges me to a war(game) I’ll definfitely use it to send my Israelis into battle! [:-,][}:)][swg]
Thank you again crockett for your honest and truthful comments. Feel free to speak your mind about my builds anytime. After all, that’s how I learn!
Considering its scale I recon its pretty good.[tup] Nice to see something unusal for a change.
Only thing I could add would have been to detail out things like tailights, or the shovel on the back with paint, etc. Other than that- way to go.
Thanks Gerard, Yeah, that’s a good idea. I’ll get right on it.
