? on building M26

Allright I started the beast today and have to say that I am allready very impressed with this kit. It just seems to fall right together. The first thing I have a question about goes along with Robert saying to paint in stages. Now that I have an idea of how this thing goes together would it be easier to put the whole chasis together with suspension and all then primer and paint or leave the bigger pieces off such as the axels and rear suspension. I’m guessing it is the second way so it would be more open to be able to get paint into it. The second thing is, is everyting undernieth the same color as the rest of the truck ie:OD, or is it like a car and the drive shaft, exhaust and shuch a steel look . I think thats it for now, I am sure there wil be more to come since I have had not much luck finding some good refrence pics. Thanks

Here’s the stage breakdown that I used Chris.

  1. frame
  2. cab
  3. rear axle
  4. front axle
  5. winch assembly

There were a couple of other small bits and pieces that I left off to just to ease the painting. Things like the wiffle tree, acetalene tanks, etc.

Basically the underside is O.D. except for the exhaust system which would have burnt the paint off of it anyway.

That should keep you going for a bit.

As ushual thanks Robert. Thats close to what I was thinking. Thanks for the links too. I wish I had gotten this one sooner, Should keep me busy till I get back to work.

Sounds like you are going to have fun building this the model Chris. Good luck.
