Well, I added some markings and gave it some dust. Going to let it dry tonight and hit it with some dullcoat tomorrow and then call it done! For some reason the tactical marking on the nose has silvered a bit and Im not sure if I can fix that at this point though.

Thanks for looking!
i got that same kit in my stash and hope to get the…uh…“friend” pretty soon. do you have any tips you could give me? please[:D]? the “friend” looks especially tricksy[;)]. how did you do the dust? i figured out how to do mud, but that is the extent of my weathering abilities. i use a mixture of 3 different acrylic browns and a little black with some sand to give it some texture. it looks good. any help would be great. thanks!

Thanks dragon, my dust is comprised of simply spraying some tan (Testors 921580 to be exact) from a good distance ( about 8-12 inches) from the model. I think I overdid it in some places but I plan on going back and hitting the top of it with some really thinned down Panzer Gray again.
The little “friend” went together without a hitch. Hardest part about it was the gun shield to gun mount. Getting it in place and not glueing the movable part of the gun down was a bit tricky but other than that it was a cinch!
I think the hardest part about the halftrack was getting all the roadwheels glued straight and lined up with each other. Good luck with yours, hope I have helped some!
I like what you did with the benches. What color did you use?
That would be MM Leather Enamel, thanks!!
Here’s one of those hyper nerd questions that really doesn’t impact the build[:I] - looks sweet by the way - but…
Would a typical SdKfz 251 C be sporting a MG 42 in the front, or “should” it be an MG34. I realize (or at least I think I do) that there is some (brief??) overlap between the end of the Ausf C and the start of the MG 42 production. And clearly, in the heat of battle, you lay your hands on whatever weapon upgrade you manage for find/steal, so I am sure, somewhere in the photo archives there is an Ausf C with an MG 42, but for the average half track of that type, what would it be sportin’ up front??..
And again nice build.
Kursk was in 1943 so the MG42 would have been used then but I do believe the MG42 and MG34 were in use at the same time. its just you usually saw the MG34 in alot of pictures of tanks and halftracks.
Thanks for the comments folks! This one actually came with both MG’s, I elected to prop the one in the rear up inside rather than mount it.
what colors did you use for the hull, artillary piece? how did you do the edge weathering and the rust(?) on the ap? thanks!
I used Tamiya’s XF-63 German Grey on both. The edge weathering was done using artists oils. I mixed Ivory Black with Titanium White until I got a color a few shades lighter than the german grey. I then took a flat brush and just kinda lightly brushed all the edges and angles. The rust was done using an oil wash as well using Burnt Sienna diluted waaaay down to the consisitency of coffee with an odorless paint thinner. Then applied to all the corners crevices and cranny’s and let it flow! Hope that has helped somewhat!
