Been building for 71 of my 77 years. I build whatever strikes my fancy and my wallet says OK. My favorites are WWI & WWII planes and Sailing Ships.
Don’t worry about “impressing” anyone. Build to please yourself. If you do, that’s all that counts. No one here will tell you your work is not good. They will tell you how to improve your builds “if needed” and “if asked for”.

When I mention looking to impress, it’s just my sense of pride that wishes for a positive review on my builds, however, I will always welcome negative criticism, as that just drives me to be better at what I do.
I used to focus on building cars mainly, with the odd truck/aircraft thrown into the mix. Lately though I’ve obsessed with warplanes, as I reflect on the past, wishing I’d have joined the air force. Ahhh, but alas I’m approaching 50, so too late lol.
Right now I’m finishing up a custom CF-18, using an F/A-18A+ kit, trying my hand at weathering for the first time. So far, so good. [Y]
