ok time for you guys and girls to laugh at me again

[sigh]

i am starting my next projects

both in 1/48 scale

both old kits

monogram

the dauntless

and the kingfisher

NO not more monogram man i sent away for my F-18 canopy and got my letter back maybe ill use it as a crashed dio. for me no more monogram but i will get that gato class sub revell germany.

I stopped building plastics many years ago, I still have about 50 kits in their boxes downstairs…I bought the Monogram Kingfisher around 1969!!!..nice kit , the pilots were the best part, perfect figures!!!..enjoy it…[;)]

Good luck on your two projects. The great part of modeling is the fun of building them. If the finished product has a few scale descrepancies or doesn’t measure up to today’s “Super Models”, so what? Enjoy!

I don’t know much about the Dauntless, but I’ve seen some really nice looking Kingfishers built from that kit. Keep us posted with many pictures

Why laugh? The Dauntless will let you practice some skills, taking out the working features. And it’s a lot less money? than the new stuff. I don’t think there is another Kingfisher in that scale. The finished kit can look pretty good.

As others have said nothing wrong with those kits. The kingfisher builds up quite nicely with a little work. Heres mine I replaced the engine with one from my spares box, scratch built an interior used vacu form canopy and marked it as a fleet air arm bird.

Did you use this: http://www.revell-monogram.com/broken/ ?

Laugh at you??? Sounds like a worthy endevor. Those old Monogram kits can make for some fine models with just a little effort.

I REFUSE pay for what i didnot screw up there foualt they should replace it for free thats not good custamer service.[2c] and thats y i will never buy another.

mkhoot that model turned out awesome

smokingun3 i must agree with you on one thing and it does not just apply to monogram it should apply to all companies

if a part is missing or defective you pay enough for the model anyway then it should not cost you an extra 3-5 bucks for the defect replacement

Thank you DURR mybe ill use it for spare parts.

Funny…I was just looking at my old monogram stack (and I got a few) and the ones the jumped at me were the “Hitech” kingfisher and an old avenger with all the working parts. I think I will do the avenger OOB to see if I can get all the working parts to work properly just for fun.

I don’t bash Monogram kits some are quite good and some no one else has done. Saw not to long ago someone is doing a resin interior for the Kingfisher(think I saw it at Squadron). Have fun and post some pictures
