Ok this is a problem

I have just barely built a Spitfire and I used Areomasters Decals. They were going great then I put a little Micro Sol and Micro Set and I thought it looked perfect. Then I sprayed it with Prenium Decor Dull coat "I gave it a few good layers and then the little decals started to curl!!! It took me forever to fix them. Then After That I noticed that the roundels didn’t look painted on anymore!!! What am I doing wrong here?Is Areomaster a bad brand or what?

I think the dull coat is the problem. Have you used it before?

a no I haven’t but it said it was for plastic. What dull coat should I use that won’t hurt the decals?

I would use Testor’s Dullcote. Or use an acrylic like Pollyscale.

Here’s a link to Testors Dullcote.

I’m still not sure if this was the definite problem, though.

I doubt it’s the decals themelves.

Raptordriver,

I have never heard that Aeromaster decals were problematic. I suspect it is the dullcoat you are using but I can’t say for sure without seeing it in action. How long did you let the decals dry before overcoating them? If they were still not completely dry that might account for the lifting. MontanaCowboy’s suggestion to use either dullcote or an acrylic is probably right on the money. Both are specially made for models and shouldn’t cause any porblems with decals or paint.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Aaron and Montana cowboy[:)].I did let the decals dry for 24 hours.I now think its the spray.

did you seal the decals with a gloss coat or future before you sprayed the dull coat?

Only Micro Sol and Set.

Thar be the problem! After a decal dries for 24 hours, let another glosscoat layer on. THen after that has dried for a day, try another dullcoat.

Good luck!
