I would like to display a location like a lot of folks have between their start date and number of posts on the left of the screen, but when I go to my profile I don’t see a placce to add this !

Really? You should see it in the block of cells named “About You” at the top of the page. Location is located directly below your name. Once that is filled in, don’t forget to update. It may take up to 10 minutes before you see it work on the forums.
