I paint with enamels and would like to try weathering with artists oils. In particular I want try oil dot fading. I have done some reading but am confused about the following: Assuming the enamel base coat is fully cured do I apply the oil dots directly or do I need to apply a lacquer or future before the oils. Thank you.
I would apply a coat of clear gloss. Anytime I use oils either artist oils or enamels I put down a clear gloss of future first. The glossy surface helps the oils ‘slide’ around on the surface so they blend better.
