What color should I use to paint OIF US Armored vehicles like M2A2 , M1A2 , Humvee etc etc
I have seen them in desert sand.
They also come in the Nato Colors as well.
Depends on what unit and when you want them to represent.
For OIF 1, the invasion (Mar 0’3) through Jan 'O4:
3ID had Sand colored M1A1HCs and M2A2 ODSs. Their HMMWVs were a mix of Sand and NATO Camo. USMC had a mix of NATO Camo and Sand M1A1HCs, AAVP7A1s and HMMWVs.
For OIF II and later.
1CAV, 3ACR, and 4ID are the same with a mix of vehicles. As a note, al these units have M1A2s, not M1A1HCs. 4ID and 1CAV have mainly M1A2 SEPs as well.
1ID and 1AD out of Germany, and 2ID out of Korea had almost all NATO Camo vehicles.
11ACR has a mix of Sand M1A1HCs and some are still in the OPFOR scheme from Ft irwin of Sand and Dark Brown as well. They didn’t have time to get them all painted before they left.

Model Master has a U.S. Army/Marine Sand, code 2136. it’s their enamel 2 series paints that are already prethinned. They also have the British Gulf Light Stone (2137) if you got any challengers or warriors.
Modelmaster Armor sand is the best in my opinion
Testor’s Model Master Sand, FS#33531 (Testor’s #1706) is an exact, out of bottle match for modern CARC Sand as used on vehicles.
Don’t use the U.S. Army/Marine Sand, code 2136. It is too dark and was based on a non-standard paint that was bought in Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Shield/Storm ('90-'91) to quickly paint camo vehicles sand. It is not a FS# color and was only used in ODS.

Yes, it will work for vehicles in ODS only.
