"Oh...by the way..."

I used to have the same problem with my son, he would play with the models, later it became tools, I used to get mad. I buried my son 3 years ago, he was 19. I would give anything to have him break something again. kits can be bought and built again. enjoy the time you have with your children.

That sort of puts our little whinges into perspective. Sorry for you fella, I lost a brother 3 years ago. The hurt never goes, you just learn to live with it.

…Guy

My son has been crying to get my Sdkfz 234, So I gave it to him, he break a few part. But I can see his smile… Oh well, I’ll fix it later… Still fight sometime with him he…he… part of the hobby…he…

Probably a good thing to do is get a couple of cheap kits that wont really set you off when your kid wants to play. Just build a few cheap models and let them use them as toys.

Looks like a future model builder you got on your hand with that smile and his face…

It sounds to me like you need to apply some weathering to the family.

Yeah, when your wife allows something like that, that’s when you allow her face to get acquainted with the back of your hand. Ok, I’m totally joking about that one obviously [:P]

I don’t have kids yet, but my gf takes care of some here and there. Just recently one of them found his grubby little hands on a Revell Space Shuttle and launch pad that I had built several years ago. Lets just say the results weren’t pretty. But, live and learn.

You are right, I saw some cheap model aircraft 1:48 scale and armor 1:72 scale in walmart. So they can play while I am busy with my toys he…he…

Thanks tankluver

No simpathy from me vtrockin, being a parent is not a part time venture. You left the stuff where your child could get it, your fault, sorry!

Let’s just hope you have put the “knife” you mentioned up so your child does not have access to it!

No sympathy required.

Just wanted to set the record straight that wife and I agreed basement is off limits to our 2 year old boy without extreme surpervision since there are many, many non childproof things down there - not just my model desk, but tools, household chemicals, etc, etc. The whole thing was an oversight on my wife’s part by putting in laundry and taking an eye off him.

As a parent you are allowed to get frustrated at times…if you don’t I wan’t YOUR kid! [bow]

And lastly, in case people mis-understood my rant, in a heartbeat I would give away all my models, supplies, etc for my boy if I had to. That’s a hobby - my son is my life.

Eh, that’s why I keep buying models and gathering info - because ONE day the kids will be grown and either moved out or at least old enough to not screw w/ dad’s models. Been over 10 years since I actively tried to build a model, and with the youngest being 2, it will be at least ten more.

Barring the happy day of being able to build a house large enough for dad to have a locking workroom, of course!!!

Oh, the joys of bachelorhood![(-D]
