Oh, Betty !

A Tamiya G4M goes down in flames. The damage is all simulated, and the photo is “aged.” No one named Betty was harmed in the making of this picture." Hope you like, and thanks for letting me share. Pix.

Real nice! Your work seems to improving every post!

Thank you, Claymore ! The encouragement that I receive from you and others has allowed me to take chances, trying things in a different way. This site has been the best thing that has happened to my creativity. Thank you again. Doing these pictures is a blast ! I encourage anyone who has the interest to try this.

Isn’t that the plane Yamamoto died in?

great stuff pixilater, I really like your stuff

Thanks for the positive responses !
hou_ge - I have seen an interview with the P-38 pilots that shot him down. I was thinking of the angle at which they said his plane was hit, and tried to recreate that here. This one is done in red-brown & IJN green, though. I believe his plane was solid green topsides. Good call, though !
Thanks U96 ! I’ll try to keep "em coming !

Pix! That looks absolutely realistic!

Was that Richard Bong in the P-38 that shot down Admiral Yamamoto?

No, I believe it was “Red” Barber that was accredited. There was a lot of controversy over this, as two pilots claimed the “kill.” I have interviews with both of them on tape somewhere. ( I have about 580 videotapes of WW II documentaries and movies - its difficult to find things sometimes ! ) Thanks for the compliment _ I was trying to get a “real” appearance to the photo !

Pixilater,
You’re definately improving - I think the monochrome/sepia look and the scratches and blemishes on the photo make it look like a real photo - a real action shot. Fantastic. You’ve kinda got me keyed up to try my hand at Photoshop as well…I’ve been having a look at all of the photos you’ve posted over the last couple of weeks and I’m pretty impressed with your imagination and skills. Your pictures are great. Keep up the good work and keep posting your photos - I like them.
I really don’t want this to sound like any sort of crictsism, because it’s not meant to be, but next time when you show battle damage like bullet holes, spread them around in a fairly uneven and random pattern - projectiles will never strike a target in a “sewing machine” fashion. Due to vibration of the guns themselves, the oscillations of both aircraft in 3 dimensional space (up, down, left, right, plus gravity acting on the projectiles, as well as the variations in both aircraft speed, pitch and yaw), the projectiles scatter quite a bit while they traverse the distance from gun platform to target, creating a “spatter” effect when impacting.
Like I said - please don’t take that as a criticism - you make great models (which I can do) but you can make great pictures of them, too (which I can’t) - and I hate adding things to posts that sound negative - it’s not meant to.
Cheers
LeeTree

That is a “realistic” looking pic. You did an excellent job on it, and the others in other posts that I looked at. Keep up the good work.

Jerry

Thanks, everyone ! Its nice to create something that is appreciated. I’m trying to merge my art classes (Photography, Photoshop, 2D design, etc.) with my love for history and modelling. I’m starting to get to a point where the interests are merging.
Lee Tree - Taking criticism is NOT a bad thing. Its how I find my strengths and weaknesses. How would I know where I could become more successful if I did not listen to the honest opinions of others ? I have had critiques from tough art instructors. Whatever doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger. I find that I learn nothing if I do everything “right.” I hope that learning is a part of every day for the rest of my life.
Thanks again, all !
