Casper, that tiger stripe tail is just sick looking. She really looks good so far.

Jeff

Nothing worthy of a pic yet i’m afraid, just startded gluing the cockpit/forward gear bay together…there a quite a few injector pin marks to fix on this puppy[Y]
I was going to give the Mirage 48 hours to dry but I checked after 24 and the metaliser was well and truly dry. I got a new Dremel attachment, av very soft circular polishing cloth that is about 7 layers of cloth in a wheel. The last thing I used was one of those tightly packed felt nubs, have to be so careful with that as skipping over the edge and ‘denting’ the paint and the plastic with friction is so easy to do. Needless to say the cloth wheel works a whole lot better.
I sprayed a few coats of Future and I’ll begin the decaling Saturday morning.
Cheers

Lol, patience Randy[:P]…I’m just cleaning up parts for the 29 inbetween coats on my 190’s, i should have those two finished in 10 to 12 days and once they are off my bench the Superfort will have my full attention[Y]
[whstl]
Ok just to make it official…[A]
Ok, decalling done! 99% good, a couple of decals gave me grief, how glossy does it really need to be??!! With the coat of Future on the bird I was able to help the decals slide into place with a little more water. After mopping up the excess water I applied the Solvaset and most have dried really nicely.
These Eduard decals are excellent quality BTW.
Ok some drying time, attach all the doodads then a nice flat coat before a highlight of the panel lines with a very light black thinned wash.
Cheers
Julez official start page 104 [Y] Cant wait for more buddy [::DD0]
Casper [snWow] those decals really bring the scheme out so it just jumps at ya. Am LOVIN it !!!
Randy, more to follow very soon, just need to do the fine detailing in the pit and then a wash before the next pics[Y[
Casper, love the scheme, well done[Y]looking forward too seeing those fuel tanks[t$t]
Not sure about the fuel tanks yet. I finished the weathering and glued the canopy on this evening. I’ll have a look in the morning but I like the look of the bird without the tanks at the moment. I have tried a dummy fit and it all looked a bit busy for me.
We shall see…
Cheers
Congrats to all the finishers! I have been away for a bit (you know, the usual work/family/health trifecta) then dealing with the snow/ice.
The first/roster page is just awesome, great work [Y]
I re-started my humble Revell P-51Ds, will post some pics later this weekend.
Cheers all [B]
Ok, I’m calling this bird done. Sorry to those that wanted to see Tiger drop tanks but I’ll save those for another day if I choose to do them. I like the look of the wings without at the moment.
Great little kit despite some of the Heller part fit problems, the Eduard extra goodies certainly do make this a nice project. One decal and one PE disaster but I am pretty happy with the results.
Now if you’ll excuse me I hear a Blackbird calling…
Cheers
Casper: WOW! Great job man, that’s some beautiful work. I built the Eduard Israeli version couple of years ago and it was a pretty good kit but the decals and paint scheme were a great deal less complex.
Julez: Looking forward to seeming the B-29. Trying to get more work on mine done but it seems to be some sort of magnet for dust… [:XX]
Casper, your Mirage turned out beautiful! I do love the lines of the 2000! The heritage shows, but in a modern more more muscular look.[Y]
Yesterday I was able to apply some promodeler dark dirt wash in all the rescessed lines. Once removed it gave a nice suttle effect.
Casper the Mirage came out beautifully, love the tiger stripes and markings [t$t] Lots of nice work went into your model, the cockpit really looks good. I think due to the rework you did and all the added detail. AWESOME! Your build is proudly displayed on the front page.
Stikpusher looking great and you are so close to finishing this one hurry up man this build has been a long time coming. Cant wait.
The Streak Eagle has started, just clean up and such for now. I will have pictures to post soon, midweek I hope. Yeah Julez I know it aint official yet [:P] just thought an unofficial announcement would be nice.
Tomorrow should see near completion or completion…
Casper very cool looking Mirage[H] Well done buddy, great work[Y][Y]
Stik, yes sir that has been a long time coming…Looking very nice the NMF and decals look sweet[Y]
Randy, good to hear the Streak Eagle has unofficially started[<:o)] whats your plan regarding the different shades of NMF on that one? some if it looks almost coppery in colour…
Yeah I definately wanna see that Streak Eagle![:P]
– really nice job on the Mirage; great finish.
Stik – Looking good; I like the effect of the wash. I have a couple bottles of that ProModeller’s wash, will give them a go on my current builds.
I started where I left off… the IP, pit, exhausts… realized that the Revell P-51D exhaust parts have couple “wedges” (for lack of a better term) that helps keep them in place (see arrows). Problem is, exhausts don’t have those “placers” and the fit is too high, exhausts should be midline of the opening with a slight downward tilt (I think….). Anyways, had to cut off the knobs and sculpt/shave the backing a bit for the exhausts to fit properly. !(http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd52/JMartiney/P51 2010/Picture069-1.jpg)
hope to get more work done before the weekend.
