OFFICAL NATURAL METAL FINISH GB IV 2012-2013

woot, round 4! Dunno what I’ll enter yet, tho. [proplr]

V-Man, put me down for another P-47. This time a 1/48 Hase -D. going to leave the base coat grey and see if there’s a difference to the black

I am in with the most common subject a P-51d i want to try the new Zouki Mura when it comes out.

Nice! Have you read SPAR’s review of it yet?

I’ve got two Tamiyastangs in the stash, but this one looks different enough that I may just have to pull the trigger.

Doogs and SF: Nice work there guys!

I would like to join the group build if allowed. I plan on building a P-51B called Bald Eagle. It is more than 50% nm. I just hope my effort is worth posting. Thanks.

Doogs, you’re off to a great start on the B-25 - looks awesome, as usual! [Y]

Stout, I’m likin’ the look of that ‘stang! You guys really hit the ground a runnin’ here!

PNG - welcome aboard! I’m looking forward to seeing your work! [Y]

Work has begun on my Virago. Gotta say these bike kits are pretty cool. The Simple Green worked a treat in removing the chrome plating - only took about 2 days, but they’re nekkid as the day they were born. I’ll be painting the frame tonight, as it’s pretty much together, along with the gas tank, as well as some primer and Alclad on the engine block, heads, and cylinders. Should have some pics up soon.

Greetings,

A minor setback.

Horizontal surfaces attached, it was time to spray the anti-glare panel. I was using MM acrylic olive drab, with a few drops of dark green and a drop or two of black, as the straight OD seems a little brown and a little too light. Mixed and sprayed and all looked well.

Now, just a day or two earlier, I’d read a comment in an old thread warning that you really needed to prime under MM acrylics if you were going to mask it – that the paint would peel up easily from bare plastic. But I thought, well, I’d never really had that trouble and sprayed away. After the OD, I decided to spray some white around the nose, just as a background for the white stars in the nose ring decal for “Short Fuse Sallee.” To do that, I needed to mask off the anti-glare. And, well, see for yourselves, a nice chunk of the OD panel peeled right up.

Sigh. So I’m laying down a coat of gray enamel as primer, which will need a little sanding, then will spray the OD again. Lesson learned: I shoulda listened to the voice of experience from the past.

Thanks, ruddratt. Guess I kinda jumped the gun a bit, since the official start date wasn’t until today. Hope I’m forgiven [:$]

The NMF IV Group build has officially started [t$t][snYea]

Ok, ok, first order of business, those who went and jumped the gun [6].

Your atonement will be the sacrifice of one piece of 1/8th dia sprue 6 inches long to the " GOD OF STYRENE " There will be dire, unthinkable consequences if this task is not completed in a timely manner.

Stoutfella nice progress man !!! Sorry to see the minor setback though. I am sure you will get it repaired with no ill effects in short order. I have found with MM acrylics even with a primer I have lifting troubles, so if I am going to be doing a lot of masking over it I shoot a couple of coats of future on first and have very few lifting problems.

B17Pilot your Jug is in and welcome back.

Frightful6 7 you building the Zouki Mura P-51D for the group ?? That is 1/32 scale right ?

PNGbrat your Bald Eagle is in and welcome to the group. I just need the scale and manufacturer of the kit to get you listed on the roster.

Yes the Zouki Mura P-51D is 1/32 and i will have some PE.

Stout, no worries man. I jumped the gun a bit myself, by about 2 days. [;)] Takes about that long for the chrome to be stripped off, and I didn’t want the build to bog down waiting.

Now, where to send that 1/8" sprue…[^o)] Canada Post won’t deliver w/o an address. [:P]

let the fun begin ( when i finish the ferrari i am building).[:P]

1/8th sprue, huh? Gee, not sure I’ve got any of that on hand. I may have to go buy a kit. [;)]

Hummmm [^o)] I bet buying a new kit just breaks your heart huh Stoutfella

The roster has been updated with new builds, still need to hear from PNGbrat as to scale and manufacturer of his build. And Miss Owl you are on the roster, your build is listed as TBA [:D]

Would a theoretical (what-if) build be allowed? If so, I have an idea. And I need a distraction from my current project. [8o|]

Sub Revolution what-if’s are allowed [:D] What do you have in mind ? [::DD0]

This guy:

Untitled

Found him at the LHS a few weeks ago and couldn’t resist! I was originally thinking of doing it for the twin engine bomber GB, but… then I started wondering what it would look like in NMF…

It might have even flown in NMF at some point, I have no idea. But I can’t find any photos of it that way, which is why I call it more of a “theoretical” than a “what if” build.

Now I gotta figure out how to do this NMF thing… There any good how-to’s online?

Thanks

Well Sub Revolution there are a number of ways to get NMF, my suggestion would be to look at the finished pictures on the front page of NMF III and see what catches your eye. I did list what was used to achieve the finish, some of them may suprise you. Heres the link to the page for ya.
