Anyone out there interested in getting together now and again to play MOH? (Medal of Honor) I’ve posted several topics in the past on this stuff, but I’ve never put out a call like this before.

And I know some of the fellas over in the armor forum tried to get a BF1942 clan going; dunno how successful it was. I’d have joined that venture, but that game ain’t my favorite for online play.

Anyhoo, for those who aren’t familiar with MOH, it’s what’s known as an FPS; First Person Shooter. It’s basically the US against Germany in WWII, although later add-ons let you play the Brits & the Soviets as well.

You needn’t own the full game to play, either. You can play the demos which are free to download, or I can help you out with a copy on disc. If you think you may want to check it out, here’s where you can get the demos:

The first MP (multiplayer) demo is at the very bottom of the page. You can also check out the SP (singleplayer) or the Spearhead MP demos if you like. They’re very large downloads, so consider yourself forewarned!

You’ll also need to install the Gamespy Arcade which comes bundled with the demos.

It’s advisable to have a DSL or Cable connection to play online. If you’re on dial up you’ll still be able to play, but it’ll be rough going more often than not.

I’d also like to try and get online to play IL2; never had much success in the past.

If anyone’s interested, please let me know and I can get you started and coordinate some games. If you have questions, give a hollar and I’ll post more detailed info.

Kaleu, I don’t have a dedicated server going, I just host games or pick a room with some pals. Someday, though…

Ghettochild, hope you can join us, the more the merrier. How is COD MP? I haven’t gotten around to grabbing anything but the demos and haven’t played those much. I was really excited about that game and then when it came out, I kinda just lost interest.

Monrad, I’m in the same boat with the full game. I had to do a bit of cleanup and took all my full games off the PC. All I have installed at the moment is the MOH MP Demo.

Okay, it seems that most of you are gamers and know the drill. Joe, are you a gamer at all? If you need a hand with anything, give a hollar and I’d be happy to help you out.

As far as times, what’s good for you folks? I know we have at least one fella here who isn’t from the US so that will be an obvious consideration.

I’m pretty much open right now, so throw your thoughts in as to when you’d wanna play.

I’m gonna start with the demo because that may prove attractive to those who can’t get the full game for whatever reason. Besides, I’ve got some files that’ll let you play maps from full in the demo, although I’d have to send a disc containing some of the full game files to those who don’t have the full game. But that’s a bit down the road, we’ll see how it goes.

Today is Sunday, I’ll have a game up for the demo on Gamespy. Game name will be Abbeville-Drucat: {LS} & FSM.

It’ll be up sporadically during the day, but I’ll leave it up from 7PM EST. I have a feeling this may be trial and error for the moment, but as I said, we’ll see how it goes.

Almost forgot,

If you intend to play the demo, you may also want to download an extra file called ‘The Hunt’.

The demo comes with one map and only one game type is available; Free For All. ‘The Hunt’ adds a second map to the demo and allows you to play two additional game types; Team and Objective games.

In Free For All games, everyone is fighting everyone. You have no friends.

In Team games, there are… teams. Allies against Axis.

In Objective games, there are also teams. But one team must complete an objective and the other must stop them from doing so. In the case of ‘The Hunt’, the allies must destroy an 88 (Flak 88) and the Axis must defend the gun.

I almost never play Free For All games because I like the Team and Objective games much more. Although a Free For All is good everyonce in awhile to build up your situational awareness.

Anyhoo, you can get ‘The Hunt’ HERE. It’s only a 5MB download and will install automatically by double clicking on the file. Again, if anyone needs a hand, give a shout.

Well i guess I’d better start to reinstall the game then. The COD multi player is AWESOME. I liked the game but the MP…WOW.
Since im the one from outside US, just let me know when we are playing and I’ll try to join you. I am 7 hours ahead of FSM forum time ( right now its 16:30 here in Denmark )
My connection is not fast enough to host a game, its 512kbs and you’ll need something like 2mbs to host. When I play online I go by the name Ho_Chi_Minh ( im not a komunist I just think its a funny name thats easy to remember )
