Recently completed for the WWI Aircraft GB, hosted by our very own Tim and Aaron. The kit is Eduard’s 1/48 scale profiPACK Albatros D.III Oeffag 153. The crosses and owl emblems are from Pheon’s Oeffag set Volume one. Turnbuckles are from Gaspatch Models.
This particular aircraft was flown by Hungarian born Franz Gräser. He was ranked sixth among the aces of the Austro-Hungarian air force, with a total of 18 confirmed. An interesting fact is he never obtained an official pilot’s certificate, nor underwent any official flying training.
Jack, that’s a great effort !!! I happen to have the weekend edition of the 1/48 Albatross D.III Oeffag 253. How did you do the wood grain on your prop? It looks great. Bob H.
5 strips were cut and then shimmied at the ends and center, all glued with a small drop of liquid cement. Surprisingly, the shim in the center did not block the paint spray, so I might try placing four next time I have to make one of these. Being sheet plastic, it is pretty flimsy.
Jack, I said it there and I’ll say it again here - it was a pleasure watching that one come together. It just doesn’t get much better than that in 1/48 (or any other) scale. An exceptional build! [Y]
