O/C HMMWV presentation gifts complete (pics)

Some of you may remember my previous posts of the Observer Controller HMMWVs that I was building as farewell gifts for soldiers PCSing from Ft Irwin. Here is how they look once completed and mounted with name plate etc. Hope you like them, the new owners did.

Hey great job on the build.
Thats very generous of you to do something like that.
Thanks for sharing.

Real nice gift! has a personnal touch. I’m sure it will find a place of honor in their memory cases. Semper Fi, Mike

Those are great. the div insignia thing and bars add tremendously to it. Simple but makes a big statement [tup]

do you get paid for such nice job?

start thinking selling on ebay. :0)

I did get paid for these. I build lots of models for people. Don’t need Ebay, I have plenty of work from word of mouth and people seeing my models.

Those Hummers are fantastic. That is a nice, personal gift for soldiers that are pcsing.

HeavyArty, can you tell us what kind of paint you used? I really like the sand color you used on the HMMWV. Also, what kit is that?

Kit is the old Italeri Desert Version HMMWV with hard top. I use the top side pieces to make the half-door rear panels and added all the other items like B piller, soft top, box on back, etc. from scratch. I also replaced the prototype 4-hole bumper with a 3-hole production type as well. You can see build pics at the link. All cream colored items are resin casts that I custom made as well. Decals and markings are all done on my computer using inkjet decal paper. The paint is Testor’s Model Master Sand, FS # 33531, Testor’s # 1701. It is an exact, out of bottle match for modern CARC Sand. The model is also lightly weathered with some Testor’s Armor Sand as well.

Glad you like them.

Awesome work. I had thought that something similar would be a nice way to earn some side money when I retired (and I had the same level of skill, but I’m working on that). That is one unique "hail and bail’ gift, one that means a lot to the recipient, I believe.

Nice job on the builds. Those guys must have loved it more with the effort you placed in building these kits. [:)]

That’s awsome man! Good to know modellers are doing some good things for people out there!

great job Gino,im sure all the guys will tresure those gifts forever.[:D]

Great job!
It’s good to see an OC truck and know that OPFOR isnt following closely behind.!
Good idea for a going away gift too, it’s getting to be PCS season, and you know all of my plaques are sitting in my basement, but there is something that would definetely go in the office.

Nice Job. It’s a very sharp display.

Wow thats nice!Howd the kit go together?

Great work as always, Gino!
It’s good to make a buck doing something nice for people and you enjoy, eh?

Very nice I like the accurate p/j a little to clean for my taste but great replicas.

??? What are you talking about, I don’t get it? What is an accurate p/j?

“Pajamas,” maybe? I think I see some in the back …[;)]
