Nuther U-Boat kit oops?

It looks like in order to be a good U-Boat kit builder, I’m going to become a U-Boat engineer! I’m working on a 1/350 Mirage Hobby kit of a Type IX-B - box reads U-107 and has the decals for that boat (confirmed on Uboat.net.

BUT…this boat has, what to me looks like a smoke stack or deck mounted periscope tube (not sure what) on the right side on the control tower!

So, re-looking at Uboat.net, I see that style of boat appears to be the IXC or IXC/40, but they had a double wintergarden gun area and the model is only a single like the IXB!

The photo of U-107 at Wikipedia does NOT show this verticle stack, so I think I remove it and build it the way I think its correct as U-107.

My first thought was a snorkel:

That’s exactly what it is! Thanks for the example. All the photos I see on Google images show none on U-107. I’l just “un-glue” it and remove. Thx!
