today my wife and i went to walmart to get some grass seed. as we were walking through the store i went by the modeling supplies as is my custom. my wife exclaims “oh cool”, when i look to see what furry little creature she has found she shows me a 1/18 p40 warhawk from mortorworks. it is by every definition a “toy”. but i am a fan of the p-40 so i take a closer look. the price is a bit high for a toy, $40, and i say cool i would love to have one. she puts it in the cart. i protest, too much, where will i put it, etc. she says just get it. well after a lengthy discussion the p-40 now flys proudly over the computer in the living room. the shark mouth preditor is very cool.
and for comparison the little p-40 is the one i am doing for the pearl harbor group build. it is the 1/48 revell kit.
now thats my story and im sticking to it.[:D]

Maybe I’ll get the motorworks P-40, P47, and F4u and not worry about building anymore. They do look really good. Wonder If I could get a work visa to work in their factory?

I just did a web search on this plane, these models are nowhere to be found, people are snagging them up and then putting them on ebay. Seems there’s a limited production on these and that they are going up in value. Good call on your wifes part for buying it.

Oh yeah, don’t you know it! Then again, that’s later and you have the P-40 NOW, so what?[;)] By the way, that toy looks pretty cool! Might be interesting to use it as a base for superdetailing, as there’s no normal kit available to that scale. Then again, where would I put it??
I was lucky enough to marry a woman like that, too. You’ve had the same conversation we’ve had time and time again. Make sure you get her something nice for whatever comes first -Birthday, Anniversary,Christmas/Channukah -or just return the favor now [:)]

well now that is a strange turn of events. when i first saw this bird i thought it was a cool toy. but then again it was a p-40. now as i read this thread i sit and smile at my good fortune. after all what are these other replicas, sheets of plastic formed as a/c, armor, ships, etc. this one at 1/18 is larger than the b-17 i built oh so many years ago.
yes rest assured we did purchase grass seed also. and some other odds and ends. that was a repair job for five puppies that we had last fall. they destroyed the yard. and for all to know my wife is a fantastic worman, and i love her dearly. although i am not sure exactly why she does.

as far as boats the one in the pic is actually a very cleaverly disquised plane. what you cant see is the mirrors or smoke that cover the wings and canopy.

Those are pretty good looking for their size, but I just dont have the room for them anywhere right now. Its bad enough that I got a remote control P-40 with a 40 inch wingspan that I have no clue where I am going to put when I get it finished.
Doesn’t look like a toy to me ! It actually looks very good in the pics. Nice, clear canopy with good frames, shaded panel lines, & no visible seams. Good score !
you know the funny part is she also saw a 1/6 (i think) sherman. and a couple of others. the a/c were $40 the armor $50. oh the fun i could have with about three hundred dollars. oh the fun.
