Im looking for a model , its not armor, it’s more less a support. Im in need of a 5 ton, with and empty bed, no troop carrier. Maybe troop carrier and i can modify it? Who knows! Any help from the wisdom pool?
We’ll need a tad more clarification…5 Ton Truck (I presume).
What Nationality?
What Scale?
What Time Period?
yeah sorry about that. Its Us Army, 5 ton support truck . Period… 5tons have been around since the 50’s so any time since the 50’s. The body style realy hasnt changed, it’s still a beast. As far as scale, doesnt matter, it will be part of a homemade dio that i will fit to the scale of 5 ton.
Italeri I think, 1/35 scale, goes by the name “Big Foot.” Again, Im not 100% on the manufacturer, but I do know that there is one made cause I’ve got the finished product here in my clinic. I am sure the guys in this forum will be able to confirm or deny the manufacturer for us.
Italeri did do a Big foot, they have also done other versions so if its in production it should be easy to get
Revell also rebox some of Italeri kits
and AFV Club have some Vietnam trucks out too, they would be worth searching for
There’s no difference between a 5 ton troop carrier and a 5 ton cargo carrier. The troop seats on all trucks fold up to become the wood or metal side rails.
The basic style of the 5 ton has changed considerably since the 1950s to today. The M923 and M925 represented by the Italeri kits are considerably larger and different from even the M800 series 5 tons used in the 1970s and 1980s. The M923/925 have started to be replaced by the FMTV series (looks more like a European cabover design) but the 900 series is still in widespread use. Even the 800 series is still roaming the battlefields in Iraq.
There ya go. No one could have asked for a more detailed answer [:)]
One issue with the Italeri kits; the Big Foot variant has grossly undersized tires, so if you wish to use this one, you may wish to look into AM replacements as well.
hey thanks guys, I knew I could count on you. After I find one I will post the progress. Hope you guys have a while. hehe
Where can I find the AM tires/wheels for this kit? I just got it and I am dissapointed with the kit tires, too.
