Great job on an old kit. All that rigging is making my head spin.![]()
Chip917, that is outstanding work!!! I got involved in an Aurora Models group build on you tube this past Summer and I loved building those “vintage” kits from childhood.
Very well done indeed!
I have one as well, to be built as one of Gen. Billy Mitchell’s squadron that sank battleships and caused a kerfuffle, and was proven right during WW2.
Thank you! Not a terrible kit for it’s age.
Thank you! I use the EZ line stretch thread and it makes it easier.
Can you imagine trying to hit a ship with your bomb. I’m sure the bomb sights wern’t too good in those days. I think the only thing that helped them was the ships were anchored.
Thanks for the kind words.
Thank you! I belonged to a model club that was not too far from the Aurora factory. When the company went out of bussiness they donated a lot of kits to our club. Some were real classics.
They did learn that close shots could damage the hull, popping seams and letting in water. But it was easier with them anchored and not firing back. The development of dive bombers was meant to counter moving vessels.
